Topic: BARRIERS TO DIVINE ELEVATION (2)
Scripture: [Matthew 6:14-15]
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
BELOVED, HEAR THIS.
Let’s continue from where we stopped yesterday, by taking a look at unforgiveness and fear as other barriers to divine elevation.
2: Unforgiveness is refusal to release resentment, anger, or bitterness toward others.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven. (Luke 6:37)
Unforgiveness bocks spiritual growth, hinders prayer and worship, produces destructive emotions and damages relationships.
Symptoms:
1: Resentment and anger
2: Bitterness and hatred
3: Unwillingness to forgive
4: Emotional turmoil
Overcoming Unforgiveness:
1: Choose to forgive (Matthew 6:14-15)
2: Release resentment and anger
3: Seek reconciliation (Matthew 5:23-24)
4: Cultivate compassion and empathy
3: Fear is another barrier to elevation. It holds you back from trusting God or taking steps of faith.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. (Isaiah 41:10)
Fear lmits faith and trust, opens doors to unbelief and hinders obedience.
Symptoms:
1: Anxiety and worry
2: Doubt and uncertainty
3: Fear of failure or success
4: Lack of courage
Overcoming Fear:
1: Recognize and confess fear
2: Trust God’s sovereignty (Proverbs 3:5-6)
3: Focus on God’s promises
4: Cultivate faith and courage (Joshua 1:9)
