Topic: LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE FATHER OF THE PRODIGAL SON (1).
Scripture: [Luke 15:22-24]
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
BELOVED, HEAR THIS.
Over the past few days, we’ve examined the life of the prodigal son and the lessons that can be learned from his journey. Now, I would like to shift our focus to the father’s story and uncover the insights and lessons that can be learned from his experiences, Luke 15:20-32.
The father of the prodigal son teaches us valuable lessons about:
▪️Unconditional love: The father’s love for his son was unwavering, despite his son’s rebellion and mistakes. We must learn to overlook others’ faults and let love dwell among us.
▪️Patience and long-suffering: The father waited patiently for his son’s return, demonstrating God’s patience with us. Let’s avoid hasty decisions that may lead to great loss. Take time to reflect before making decisions based on how others have wronged us.
▪️Forgiveness and mercy: The father forgave his son and showed mercy, illustrating God’s forgiveness and mercy towards us. Forgiveness is key, as it demonstrates our reverence for God.
▪️ Restoration and redemption: The father restored his son’s place in the family, showing us that God desires to restore and redeem us.
▪️Selfless love: The father’s love was selfless, prioritizing his son’s well-being over his own hurt and disappointment.

May the Lord grant us the grace to forgive those who offend us, and may our hearts be free from bitterness and resentment.
May we not be held back by unforgiveness, but rather may we walk in freedom and joy, releasing all hurts and offenses to God in Jesus Mighty Name.
